Blow for Alfred Mutua after High Court ruling

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has suffered a major blow after the High Court dismissed his application to strike out Wavinya Ndeti’s petition challenging his August 8th win.

Ms Wavinya had filed the petition of about 10,000 pages on September 5, 2017,together with her running mate Peter Mathuki and her lawyers.

A total of ten senior lawyers who include Otiende Omollo, James Orengo, T.J. Kajwang, James Gichanga and Daniel Maanzo would be representing Ms Wavinya during the hearing of the petition.

Through one of her lawyers, Daniel Maanzo, Ms Ndeti cited massive electoral malpractices as one of the reasons that influenced the results to go Mutua’s way.

However,Governor Mutua has since maintained that he won the contest fairly and dismissed claims of irregularities.

The flamboyant Governor once accused Kalonzo of investing too much effort in scuttling his (Mutua’s) development agenda.
“We won because we wanted to show that development is more important than sycophancy,” he said.

Following today’s ruling,Ms Wavinya exuded confidence of winning the petition and invited all her supporters to come and follow the proceedings.
