Babu Owino Speaks For the first time after being Re-arrested

Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino was re-arrested outside Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday evening over a past assault case.

It was not immediately clear why police re-arrested him but they are likely to prefer fresh charges against him.

The MP was re-arrested shortly after he was freed on a Sh500,000 cash bail with two sureties of Sh1 million, after denying the charges levelled against him.
Through his social media timelines, the former student leader has said that he has transferred from Pangani police station to unknown location.
“I have been transferred from Pangani police station to unknown location. There are plans to inject me with mercury. They can kill my body but my revolutionary spirit, ideas and dreams will never die. #NoReformsNoElections”,read his post.

He also spoke of a plot by the state to strip him of his MP seat by deliberately detaining him for a while until he misses 8 consecutive parliamentary sittings that will lead to his automatic disqualification as the current Embakasi East MP.

Mr Owino was freed on condition that the two sureties are of equal standings in society with the accused.

The case will be mentioned on October 4, 2017.
