Speaking during an interview with NTV on Wednesday at the Parliament buildings after state of the nation address by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Keter said the unity pact between the President and the opposition leader is a roadmap to uniting Kenyans.
“Many are against the handshake for their selfish interests as they are narrowminded. They want to be elected in future so they think it will affect their ambitions,” noted the MP who has filed an appeal to challenge nullification of his election win by an Eldoret High Court.
“We would rather remain without an election but remain united as a nation,” he added.
The embattled legislator further commended the two antagonists for the sacrifice they made and expressed optimism that the truce will bear fruits to the nation’s development agenda.
Since the famous handshake, a section of elected leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have been harboring reservation to the unity pact with some warning that it might be a plot by the former Prime Minister to scuttle DP Ruto’s 2022 Presidential ambitions.
