Former IEBC Commissioner Roselyne Akombe has disclosed that CEO Ezra Chiloba misled the Commission and its lawyer Paul Muite during the hearing of the presidential petition filed by NASA leader Raila Odinga at the IEBC.
Speaking during an interview with a Nation Media journalist based in the United States, Dr. Akombe opened that one of the reasons the agency lost at the Supreme court was because CEO Ezra Chiloba was economical with the truth.
According to Akombe, Chiloba had assured Lawyer Mutie to avail original Form 34As and Bs with all the prescribed security features, but only to deliver questionable documents.
Ms. Akombe disclosed Chiloba had also affirmed that all the forms availed by him to the Supreme court for scrutiny were the same as ones received by the IEBC from Returning Officers across the country.
“The CEO was responsible for coordinating all this. He assured us along with our lawyers that all the forms that they had , they had gone through all of them. And that the forms being given to the Supreme Court were as the forms delivered by the Returning Officers.
“That the forms had all the security features. So when you heard our lawyer Paul Muite say he was ready to have the forms available, it was because that was the assurance he was given.
“He (the CEO) gave us his word but that was not the case,” she said.
She added that the another reason as to why the Supreme court nullified the results was Safran-Morpho reluctance to open the server in due time for scrutiny.
She even wished the late Chris Msando was around and that it shouldn’t have happened.
“The fact that our service provider,Safran-Morpho, did not give access to the servers, the fact that the forms we presented to them were not in the order that they were supposed to be contributed to the nullification of the results.
All the responses for not opening the servers were from Safran.I really wished Msando was there to be able to verify these things.iI fell that he would have given us an honest opinion of what happened.“ She said.
